Meet the Founder

HER LEGACY DOES NOT ONLY LIE IN WHO SHE IS, BUT IN WHO SHE INSPIRES OTHERS TO BE…

As we share some highlights of the story of our Founder, Queen Ramotsehoa, we do so with the hope that it will inspire your story.

The secret of getting ahead, is getting started…

At the dawn of her career, Queen was a teacher for many years before she was offered the position of Editorial Manager for Maskew Miller Longman. One of her proudest professional moments during this period, was that her team pioneered outcome based education (OBE) schoolbooks under her leadership.

A wise person once said that to teach, is to touch a life forever. The blessed journey that life placed her on, planted a seed that gradually started growing in Queen’s heart; that a manager is supposed to do exactly the same.

Transmuting tears into triumph

In 1994, Queen suffered a heart-breaking loss when the matriarch of her family passed on. However, as she spoke to others about her mother, she noticed that everyone provided consistent feedback about the person she was and the lasting footprints she left on their hearts and minds.

Herein lies the beauty of tragedy, that it does not leave a person unchanged. It was in this moment that Queen woke up to the fact that her own higher purpose is, in a way, aligned to that of her mother’s: To make a lasting positive impact on others.

The founding of Tsheto, purpose-infused

The inner reflection that Queen embarked on to process her loss, also led her to visit her grandfather’s grave. The epitaph on his headstone: “Here rests a man who served both God and men,” deeply resonated with her.

This demonstrates the importance of role models in leadership. Inspired by the examples set by her elders, Queen gained clarity of the role she wanted to fulfil, which is to become a leader. She also gained clarity on her agenda as a leader: “To serve both God and men.” Which motivated the founding of Tsheto

“When the student asks the question, the teacher appears”

Clarity in spite, Queen soon felt a restlessness in her soul, as she became cognisant of the fact that by “teaching” others how to be leaders, she was simply conveying a predetermined, limited set of knowledge.

It is said that as soon as the student asks the question, the teacher appears. It is therefore no wonder, that right at this moment in time, she received an invitation to a coaching course, which set her on a path to become a fully qualified consciousness coach.

Moving from “teaching” to “coaching” marks a significant milestone in the progression of Tsheto, as the art of coaching, lies in the art of assisting discovery. In looking from the outside in, to objectively helping other see what they need to see to succeed. And in empowering to unleash their own power to conceptualise their own solutions to challenges.

On the wings of an earth angel, Tsheto starts to soar

Connecting the dots, we can see how beautifully Queen’s journey unfolded: To first uncover her higher purpose is to make a lasting impact in the lives of others. To then learn that the best way to do so, is to become a leader and help others to become leaders. And to finally understand that coaching is one of the most powerful enablers of leaders.

However, something was still amiss. What was “amiss,” came to Queen in the form of an unexpected encounter with a client whose honest, fresh perspective shed a bright light on where Tsheto really was.

Queen then recognised three critical steps that were required for Tsheto to take off and soar to limitless new heights: To clearly define what a leader is, what coaching of a leader really means and what the most effective tools and vehicle is to coach leaders.

The principles that underpin the Tsheto way

What followed in the wake of this important steppingstone in the history of the business, irrevocably shaped the key cornerstones that the house of Tsheto is built on. We invite you to read about the x-factor that underpins all our leadership programmes.

A powerful truth that every true leader should be aware of

Over time, Queen kept on interrogating herself to determine what is the most important truth that she needs to constantly remind herself of. That one big thing that will become her internal compass to gauge whether she is on track with her conscious commitment, which is to achieve optimal positive impact as a leadership coach. We invite you to watch the 10-minute video below, to find out about the life-altering epiphany she experienced, as we believe it may have life-altering consequences for you too.
